Dominant Violin String -D

Description

Dominant violin strings are the most popular and respected synthetic strings on the market. These were the first synthetic core strings that sold in great numbers and changed conceptions about what could be expected of a violin string. They have a highly flexible, multi-strand synthetic core for the tonal warmth and feel of gut but rather more like steel strings, they are impervious to changes in humidity, allowing for stable tuning and long life. The sound is smooth, clear and rich in overtones. Dominant strings, widely recognized as “the reference standard”, are legendary for distinctive tone and playability.

This D string has a synthetic core and there is a choice of winding material; either aluminium or silver. It is said that silver is brighter and bigger sounding, but on balance you have to experiment with your particular instrument as some violins don’t seem to get on well with one kind of winding but are exceptional with another. The full size string are available in three tensions, Low-Medium-High, to allow further flexibility. If in doubt order medium tension as this is suitable for most instruments.
