Tonica are Pirastro’s entry into the quality student level viola strings market. These strings aim to improve most student instruments and are compliant and confidence inspiring. Tonica strings are similar to Dominants but some have reported that they have less tonal range. With this latest version of the Tonica, Pirastro have sought to reduce ‘string hiss’, increase projection and power, increase ease of playing over the whole string and improve the control of pianissimo playing. This has been achieved without losing the charactistic warmth of the original. These strings are great value and are available in small viola and long scale sizes. Long scale sizes are expressed in vibrating length, that is, the length measured from the nut to the bridge. The 4/4 size should suit most instruments.

A – aluminium wound, D – aluminium wound, G – silver wound and C – silver/tungsten wound. Medium tension only.

The A features a removable ball end.
